Day Care or Ambulatory Care is a specialised healthcare delivery system for patients who do not require an overnight hospital stay. Patients treated at a daycare facility are discharged on the same day after the treatment or procedure.

Instructions for the patients for Day Care surgery

  • Ensure that your pre-anaesthetic check is done before the surgery
  • All investigations reports must be carried while coming for surgery
  • Insurance – To claim insurance for your procedure in a hassle-free manner, please get your insurance card/ insurance policy copy, ID proof (Aadhar card/ PAN card), first consultation prescription for the current ailment, present Apollo treating doctor prescription and investigation reports.   • Follow the doctor’s advice regarding medication and fasting before surgery. Please ask your doctor about your regular medications, like thyroid, Diabetes & cardiac medications etc.
  • Take a shower or bath and antiseptic mouth wash, avoid using cosmetics, perfumes & remove nail polish (if any) while coming to the hospital.
  • A family member, relative or friend (Attendant) is mandatory with the patient to take home after the procedure.
  • Kindly keep all your valuables at home like ornaments, contact lenses and implants etc.
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing.
  • Stop smoking & consuming alcohol as advised by the doctors.

Note: Make sure that you have understood everything about your planned procedure/surgery before giving your consent for the same.

Note: Patient will be taken for surgery into the OT as per the schedule for the day. Emergency cases will be given priority depending on the condition of the patient. As a result, may cause delay for your surgery.

  • Please report to the Day Care reception.

  • Leave your attendant local mobile number with the receptionist for communication.
  • Shift to Operation Theatre / Cath Lab/ Procedure room on call.
  • Once the procedure/surgery is over, our staff will call you to see your patient. Strictly one attendant will be permitted to see the post-op patient after surgery in the recovery.
  • You will be intimated by our staff once the bill is ready

Contraindication for Day Care Surgery:

  • Medically unfit for discharge on the same day
  • Mental retardation / psychologically unstable
  • Highly infectious disease
